These five are our own stories, not retellings. The dinosaurs in them are small ones, and what happens to them is what happens to small children: being the only one who cannot do the thing everybody else can do, seeing snow for the first time, being frightened of thunder, and carrying something heavy further than you thought you could.
There is no fighting in any of them and nothing is eaten. If your child likes dinosaurs for the teeth, these are the wrong stories; if they like dinosaurs because dinosaurs are somebody's children too, these are the right ones.

- Are these frightening?
- No. There are no predators in them. The one about the thunderstorm is deliberately about being frightened, and it ends with a way of dealing with it — counting the seconds from the flash to the thunder.
- Are the dinosaurs accurate?
- Roughly. They are feathered where feathers are likely, they sleep the way large animals actually sleep, and the northern ones are small and thick-feathered. But these are bedtime stories, not a textbook.
