About Marytale

Marytale is a small editorial team and a group of children's illustrators. We write bedtime stories for children aged 2 to 10, and we choose every theme with care: the last quarter of an hour of a child's day deserves a story worth listening to.

Families read our stories all over the world. It started with the app, which appeared in the App Store on 10 February 2025; today the stories also live here on the site, free to read in seven languages.

How we choose what to write about

We spend a long time on themes and plots, because a bedtime story is one of the few moments a child gives you their full attention. Our stories teach and encourage good deeds, build courage and a positive way of looking at things.

Every story carries only positive values. There is no mysticism in them, and nothing a child could take home as a fear — what stays after the last page should be warmth, not unease.

Stories that explain the world

We have a separate strand of stories about how things actually work: where electricity comes from, how a thing is made, why the world behaves the way it does. Children ask these questions anyway — a story is the easiest place to answer them.

Safety stories

Another strand is about keeping safe, told as a story rather than a lecture:

medicines — why they are never sweets
fire, matches and the stove
crossing the road and behaving near traffic
water, the pool and the sea
electricity, sockets and cables
strangers, and what to do when you get lost
windows, balconies and heights
meeting animals you do not know
