What's on a cursive worksheet

Each sheet moves from tracing to writing on its own:

a solid gray row to trace over and see how the letters join
dashed rows that run along the middle of each stroke, not around its edges, so tracing feels like real writing
rows with only the first letter, then empty lines to try it alone
guide lines for the top, the middle and the baseline, like real handwriting paper

Traditional or modern cursive

Traditional cursive has loops on tall letters and the familiar capital letters many parents learned. Modern cursive is simpler and more upright, with fewer loops, and is used in many newer handwriting programs.

Both are school models drawn by type designers who study how handwriting is taught. If your child's school uses a specific program, choose the style that looks closer to it.

The cursive alphabet, names and sentences

The Alphabet tab gives you capital and lowercase pairs (Aa Bb Cc), only capitals or only lowercase letters. The Names tab makes one page per name, so a whole class can practice their own names in one PDF. The Any text tab works for spelling words or a short sentence.

Most kids start cursive around second or third grade, after print letters feel easy. Lowercase letters come first, because they carry most of the joins.
