Mare and foal nose to nose

The mare and the foal stand facing each other and lower their heads until their noses meet in the middle. The foal is still short — about two thirds of its mother's height — so it stretches up while she bends down. This is how they say hello.

It looks loveliest when mother and foal are the same color and the foal is just lighter — then you can see straight away that it is her baby. The manes can differ. Two big calm shapes, simple even at three.
